Ogun State Ministry of Health and Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) with support from UNICEF is carrying out Mass Administration of Medicines to treat and prevent Onchocerciasis and Lyphatic Filariasis in the State. These medicines are very safe for consumption. Many people in Ogun State are suffering from Onchocerciasis (Inarun). The symptoms are itching of the eyes and skin, redness of the eye, swelling on the skin, and skin diseases. If left untreated can lead to blindness. Infected Blackfly (Amukuuru) transmits this disease from one person to another. Lymphatic Filariasis (iwuse) causes swelling of the arms, breast, genitals and leg. It can also cause hydrocele (water in scrotal sac). Lymphatic Filariasis is spread by Mosquito bite. Let us ensure every persons take this medicines.
